Join Us for the 32nd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: Help Make a Difference Today!

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)— El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank teamed up with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) for their 32nd annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive.

Mia Reza, the Volunteer Coordinator, shared her excitement about the community’s involvement. “We’ve seen fantastic turnout from local residents,” she said. Around 150 volunteers participated across ten locations, making this the biggest single-day food collection event in the country. Many items were donated, including canned goods, condiments, pasta, and cereal.

During this event, postal workers collect food that residents leave by their mailboxes, making it a seamless way for everyone to contribute.

One volunteer expressed her joy in giving back, noting how rewarding it is to see people smile when they receive food. Such interactions underline the importance of community support.

Reza highlighted a common challenge for the food bank: summer months often bring a drop in volunteering. “Hunger doesn’t take a break during the summer,” she reminded everyone. More support is needed year-round, and every helping hand counts.

According to recent research by Feeding America, over 34 million people in the U.S. struggle with hunger. This emphasizes the vital role of food drives like “Stamp Out Hunger.” It’s essential for individuals and families to have access to food, not just during the holidays or major food drives.
