Andrews University is excited to host the Industry Lab Summit on September 26, 2025. This free event focuses on bringing together students, faculty, and industry experts to spark collaboration.

Under the theme “Innovation through Industry-Academia Collaboration,” the summit will run from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Howard Performing Arts Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Jorge Cardenas, the Industry Lab coordinator, emphasizes the university’s commitment to community and student success. “This summit is a great chance to connect academia with industry, inspiring new ideas and partnerships.”

Attendees can look forward to networking opportunities and refreshments. Engaging keynote talks will cover topics like “AI Trends” by Ackley Will from the Department of Computing, product development insights by engineering faculty Michael Mason and Gunnar Lovhoiden, and medical device collaborations presented by Ryan Roeder from Notre Dame.

The Industry Lab Summit stems from Andrews University’s Industry Lab, which supports local businesses with innovative programs and technology. Launched in 2023 with help from an Academic Partnership Grant, the lab embodies values of integrity and collaboration, aiming to create real solutions for its partners.

In 2024, the lab received a grant from the National Science Foundation to help expand its outreach. Events like the summit not only strengthen industry ties but also support economic growth and educational development.

Matias Soto, the director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, believes that through initiatives like this, Andrews University empowers future leaders who can make impactful changes in their industries.
