Join Us for the Next Feed the Boro Food Drop on February 15 at Statesboro High: Together We Can Make a Difference!

Join us for Feed the Boro’s food drop on Saturday, February 15, 2025, starting at 8 AM at Statesboro High School, located at 10 Coach Lee Hill Boulevard. This event, hosted by Statesboro Food Lion and The Islands alongside Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and sponsored by Georgia Southern APEX, aims to provide enough food for 1,000 families.

Volunteers are crucial to making this happen! If you can help, please sign up here. Arrive by 7:45 AM for a quick safety briefing. Parking is available across the street in the Big Lots lot. Remember to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. In case you need a break, the school will be open for warming up.

Our goal is to distribute nutritious meals to families in need. “We strive to bring hope and compassion through food and volunteerism,” says Don Poe, FTB Chair. Food drops are open to anyone in Bulloch County who needs it, so don’t hesitate to come by, but be sure to get in line early!

Before you arrive, ensure your trunk is open and clean. For SUVs, the rear should also be accessible. Volunteers cannot move items around for safety reasons. If your trunk is not ready, you won’t receive the full amount of food, as they can only fill available space. Cars will move through distribution points smoothly, so being prepared helps everyone.

Bulloch County struggles with poverty, with about 29% of the population facing hunger. This means nearly one in three may go to bed without enough food. Feed the Boro aims to assist families by providing them with two meals a day for a week. To sustain this effort, community support is essential.

If you can’t volunteer, consider sponsoring a meal. For just $15, you can support a family of three. For $25, you can help a family of five, and for $100, you’ll contribute to feeding 20 people. Thanks to our generous sponsors, it costs around $5 per person to provide groceries for a week.
