Mark your calendars! On Thursday, February 6, the Solano Local Food System Alliance is hosting an educational forum from 5 to 7 PM. This event will focus on updates to the county’s general plan and how it can support “healthy communities.” Topics will cover community health, local food systems, and the county’s climate action plan.
The forum will take place at the Solano County Events Center in Fairfield, located at 601 Texas St. You can also join online, making it accessible for everyone.
Allan Calder, the Solano County Planning Manager, will kick off the session as the keynote speaker. He’ll explain the general plan process. Additionally, Olivia Henry, a regional food systems advisor with UCCE, will share examples from other areas prioritizing local food in their planning efforts. Attendees will have a chance to voice their thoughts and ask questions regarding healthy communities and the local food system.
The Alliance hosts these educational forums quarterly, inviting the public to learn about various topics that connect with local food systems. This year, special emphasis will be on gathering community input as Solano County begins updating its general plan. Another forum focused on this topic is planned for May.
While the event is free to attend, space is limited for in-person guests. To secure your spot, please register in advance. You can sign up [here](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/solano-county-general-plan-healthy-communities-tickets-1083329731389).
