Join Us This Saturday for BPRD’s Holiday Food Drive: Drive-Thru and Give Back!

The Bend Park & Recreation District is hosting a drive-thru holiday food drive this Saturday to benefit the NeighborImpact Food Bank. It takes place at the Larkspur Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Donating is easy. Just drive up to the Bend Senior Center entrance at 1600 SE Reed Market Rd, and staff will collect your food donations right from your vehicle. You don’t even have to get out!

This year, the food bank needs specific items:

  • Canned proteins like chicken and tuna
  • Soups and stews
  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Peanut butter

Remember, please avoid glass containers. They can break and create safety issues.

Due to recent government funding cuts, the food bank is facing a 25% reduction in meat, dairy, and produce. Your help can make a real difference in our community.

If you can’t make it to the drive-thru, you can still contribute. Donation bins are available at several locations, including the Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and The Pavilion, until January 4. These bins are open during regular business hours.

According to a recent survey by Feeding America, food insecurity has risen by 20% since the pandemic began. Organizations like NeighborImpact are doing critical work to meet the needs of those affected. Your donation can help fill the gaps and bring relief to families in need this holiday season.

Let’s come together and make this a memorable holiday for everyone. Every little bit helps!
