Join Us This Saturday for the Door-to-Door Scouting for Food Drive: Make a Difference in Your Community!

If you got a flyer for the Scouting for Food initiative, don’t forget to put out your donations for the West Seattle Food Bank. Even if you missed the flyer, you can still contribute!

West Seattle Scouts are Back with Their Annual Food Drive!

Recently, you may have seen Scouts in your neighborhood sharing flyers for their important food drive. Local Cub Scout Packs and Troops are working together to help those facing food insecurity. They’ve already distributed flyers, and they’ll be back on Saturday, March 21st, from 9 am to 12 pm, to collect your donations.

In the past, these Scouts have collected over three tons of food each year. This year, they hope to keep that tradition alive!

The West Seattle Food Bank has identified some urgent needs. Consider adding these popular items to your donation:

  • Diapers (sizes 5, 6, and 7)
  • Ready-to-eat meals like canned soups, stews, and microwave mac & cheese

If you didn’t receive a flyer or prefer to drop off your items, Pack 793 will have a collection point at West Seattle High School (3000 California SW) on the same day and time.

This initiative highlights how community efforts can make a real difference. In 2022, food banks reported a 40% increase in demand compared to previous years. Local Scouts stepping up during times like these showcases the vital role volunteers play in tackling food insecurity.

Many people share their contributions and experiences online, showing solidarity. Social media buzz around events like this can inspire others to join in and help their communities. Every little bit helps!

By supporting this drive, you’re joining a growing movement. To learn more about the impact of food drives on local communities, visit the Feeding America website, where you can find valuable statistics and learn how you can help further.
