This exciting news comes a year after the tragic death of their bandmate, Liam Payne, who passed away in an accident in Argentina. Both Malik and Tomlinson paid tribute to Payne on social media. Malik called him his “brother,” while Tomlinson described him as “the most vital part” of One Direction.

One Direction, formed on The X Factor in 2010, became one of the biggest boybands ever, selling over 70 million records. Malik left the group in 2015 and has found success as a solo artist. Tomlinson recently released his third studio album, furthering his own music career.
