Jon Stewart Extends His ‘Daily Show’ Tenure: What This Means for Fans Through 2026!

Jon Stewart is staying put. He just signed a new one-year deal to continue as a host and executive producer of The Daily Show through December 2026. This is his third deal since returning to the show.

Recently, during a live chat with David Remnick of The New Yorker, Stewart hinted that he was committed to sticking around. He joked, “We’re working on staying,” making it clear he enjoys being part of the show.

On Mondays, Stewart shares the hosting duties with Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic, while Josh Johnson takes over the rest of the week. He made his comeback at the start of 2024, after having signed his previous deal last year.

The Daily Show has been doing well in the ratings and recently earned its best Emmy nominations ever, with Desi Lydic winning an award.

Still, there have been concerns about its future, especially after parent company Paramount canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which Stewart also produces. In his interview, Stewart expressed frustration about this: “[Paramount has] already done things that I’m upset about. But then if I had integrity, maybe I would stand up and go, ‘I’m out.’ Or maybe the integrity thing to do would be to stay in it and keep fighting in the foxhole.”

Following the cancellation, Stewart humorously told his employer to “go f*ck yourself” and joked about whether the new owners, Skydance, would even let them back in after their summer break.

Stewart continues to work alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and his manager, James ‘Baby Doll’ Dixon.

Ari Pearce, Head of Comedy Central, praised Stewart for his ongoing impact on the show. “Jon Stewart continues to elevate the genre he created. His return is an ongoing commitment to the incisive comedy and sharp commentary that define The Daily Show,” he said.

In a world where late-night television is changing, Stewart’s presence remains a stronghold for fans. His unique style and ability to tackle current events keep audiences engaged and looking forward to what’s next.
