Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025. The announcement came during an episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” He takes over from John Krasinski, who held the title in 2024.
Bailey expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s a huge honor. I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd.” At 37, he has captivated fans as Prince Fiyero in the movie adaptation of “Wicked,” which hit theaters in 2024. The second part of the film will release on November 21.
He also shone as Lord Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series “Bridgerton” and received an Emmy nomination for his performance in “Fellow Travelers.” This past July, he starred in “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
During his appearance on Fallon’s show, Bailey called the title an “honor of a lifetime.” He mentioned how meaningful it was for someone who understands the value of being recognized as a sexy man.
Bailey’s journey began at age 5 when his grandmother took him to see “Oliver!” Since then, he has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and starred in productions like Shakespeare’s “Richard II” earlier this year.
As a proud gay actor, Bailey founded The Shameless Fund, which supports LGBTQ+ organizations. He highlighted the current challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community, saying, “I know the LGBT sector is under immense threat at the moment.”
The title of Sexiest Man Alive dates back to 1985, when Mel Gibson was the first recipient. Since then, icons like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Michael B. Jordan have shared the honor. Bailey’s feature in People will also include his dog, Benson, who he couldn’t help but spill the beans to about his new title.
