Joshua Jackson has sadly lost his childhood home to the wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles. His house in Topanga Canyon was destroyed in the Palisades Fire, which has been burning for over a week. This blaze has consumed more than 23,000 acres and damaged over 10,000 buildings. As of now, only 14% of the fire is contained.
In a statement, Jackson expressed relief that his loved ones are safe: “First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”
Born in Vancouver, Joshua grew up in Topanga until he was eight. After his parents divorced, he moved back to Canada but returned to California in 2001. He even bought his beloved childhood home, which held many special memories for him. Jackson shared in a 2021 interview that his daughter now sleeps in his old bedroom, where a mural of a dragon still hung on the wall.
The Palisades Fire is one of three major wildfires currently affecting Los Angeles. The Eaton Fire has burned over 14,000 acres and is about 33% contained, while the Hurst Fire has affected 799 acres and is nearly fully contained at 95%. Sadly, the combined death toll from these fires has reached 24, with over 10,000 residents displaced due to evacuation orders. This season has been one of the most catastrophic in California’s history.
Many celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, and Billy Crystal, have also lost their homes. In response to this tragedy, several stars like Halle Berry and Meghan Markle have stepped up to assist those affected, donating their time and resources to help victims rebuild.
In light of the crisis, various Hollywood events and productions have been delayed or canceled so that attention can shift toward relief efforts.
