Joy Taylor has departed from Fox Sports, reflecting broader changes at the network. The cancellation of her show “Speak,” along with two morning programs, highlights struggles for viewership on FS1. According to sources from The Athletic, these shows didn’t attract a large enough audience.
At 38, Taylor’s journey at Fox Sports lasted nearly ten years. Recently, she made headlines due to serious allegations involving the network’s former programming executive, Charlie Dixon. One lawsuit accused Dixon of sexual battery and alleged that Taylor told the victim to “get over it.” Taylor has firmly denied these claims. Dixon was let go from FS1 in late April.
Taylor co-hosted “Speak” alongside Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce. Fox Sports chose not to renew her contract as part of their restructuring. Other shows facing cancellation include “Breakfast Ball,” hosted by Craig Carton, Mark Schlereth, and Danny Parkins, and “The Facility,” featuring Emmanuel Acho and several former NFL players.
The shift comes amid a competitive media landscape, where audience engagement is crucial. Recently, a survey from Statista revealed that sports viewership has been declining annually, pushing networks to rethink their programming strategies.
