For the sixth consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente tops the chart for customer satisfaction and affordability in the health insurance industry, as highlighted in Insure.com’s 2026 Best Health Insurance Companies list. This ranking solidifies Kaiser Permanente’s reputation, especially in areas like Downey, California.
Insure.com evaluated various health plans by analyzing industry data and conducting a survey with roughly 2,000 consumers. Respondents were asked to name their insurer and rate them in key areas:
- Variety of policy options.
- Trust in the insurer.
- Affordability of rates.
- Likelihood of renewing coverage.
- Digital experience with the company.
This year, Kaiser Permanente scored an impressive 4.42 stars, up from 4.17 last year, making it the top choice among 15 major insurance providers, which included names like UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Cigna, and Aetna. With 4.9 million members in Southern California, Kaiser Permanente excelled in customer satisfaction, payment ease, and affordability.
Michelle Gaskill-Hames, the president of Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii, noted, “Our commitment to medical excellence shows in the trust our members have in us. Their satisfaction reflects the accessible and affordable care provided by our dedicated staff.”
Understanding customer experience in health insurance is increasingly important. According to a recent study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 66% of Americans cite costs as a major concern when choosing a health plan. This statistic highlights why affordability and transparency in insurance offerings resonate so strongly with consumers today.
