The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has received reaccreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) for five more years, until 2029. This achievement highlights KDHE’s dedication to maintaining high standards in public health.
To earn this reaccreditation, KDHE went through a detailed review process. This assessment evaluated how well the department meets national public health standards. It shows that KDHE is committed to improving and meeting the health needs of the communities in Kansas.
PHAB is a nonprofit organization supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It promotes better public health through its accreditation program, which helps health departments improve their services and better engage with their communities. This strong foundation allows them to tackle health inequalities more effectively.
KDHE initially received its PHAB accreditation in 2017. Since then, the department has focused on enhancing community health, quality management, and public participation. Looking ahead, KDHE aims to continue its efforts in sustainability, conducting regular evaluations, providing training, and involving the community through various initiatives and focus groups.
