BJP asked for proof
Opposition leaders started an uproar on this statement of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. After this, BJP MLAs including R Ashok and CN Ashwathnarayan asked for evidence. On this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he will present the affidavit filed by the previous government. He has claimed that it clearly states that it has accepted to maintain the previous reservation policy.
‘No restrictions have been imposed’
BJP members alleged that the Congress government was stifling the free expression of Panchamasali Lingayats by stopping them from carrying out its planned gherao. BJP said, "This is an assault on democratic rights." Clarifying the stand of this government, Home Minister G Parameshwara said, "We haven’t banned the protest by Panchamasali Lingayats. It is their democratic proper to demand reservation. However, permitting greater than 5,000 autos, together with tractors, might create a regulation and order drawback."
