It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over 13 years since Street Fighter X Tekken hit the scene. Recently, Evo 2025 wrapped up without any big announcements for Tekken X Street Fighter—though many fans weren’t really expecting any surprises.
At Evo 2025, Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray chatted briefly about the long-anticipated Tekken X Street Fighter. While their focus was mainly on the potential return of Tekken Tag Tournament 3, they didn’t completely ignore the overlooked project.
Harada remarked, “It’s hard to say if that’s even a thing. It depends on what people want,” speaking through Murray, who translated his words. He expressed interest in sharing what they have done so far, noting that they were about 30% into the development process. However, the project has been relatively quiet since he mentioned its status back in 2021.
In fact, although Harada previously stated that the project had “died,” he has also clarified it hasn’t been officially canceled. He said, “We are just waiting for the right opportunity.” This sentiment highlights that, while progress has been halted for four years, there’s a glimmer of hope for fans.
What’s interesting is the back-and-forth in communication. Harada’s earlier comments were misinterpreted, leading to confusion. Still, he hasn’t given up hope. “Up to 30% of the development was in progress, but now it is still pending,” he noted, emphasizing that the timing isn’t right just yet.
The collaboration between Bandai Namco and Capcom has produced some exciting moments, like the arrival of Akuma as a guest character in Tekken 7. This sneak peek into past partnerships gives fans a taste of what could happen with Tekken X Street Fighter if conditions are favorable.
While some early screenshots teased what the game might have looked like, many fans are left hanging. Harada seems eager to reveal more if given permission from the involved parties. For now, though, the project remains in limbo.
As we look ahead, it’s clear that the gaming landscape is always changing. With new technologies and fan expectations evolving, the collaboration could still find its place in the future of gaming. Until then, fans will have to stay patient as they hope for any updates on Tekken X Street Fighter.
