Kean University Baseball Dominates Rutgers-Camden: A Glorious Sweep!

Union, N.J. (4/5/25) – The Kean University baseball team continued their winning streak, now at 6-0 in NJAC play, by sweeping Rutgers-Camden on Saturday.

Game One – Kean 15, Rutgers-Camden 0

It was a dominant performance for Kean in the first game. They scored early, with Nick Sellari getting the first run in the second inning. In the fifth, the Cougars added three more runs from consecutive hits, including an RBI single by Kyle Adorno and a triple by Tyler Stone. CJ Tomalavage also contributed with an RBI double.

Kean didn’t stop there. They scored four runs in the sixth, thanks to doubles from Brett Hilsheimer and Tomalavage, pushing the score to 8-0. The seventh inning was explosive, with seven more runs, showcasing a two-RBI triple from Adorno and a double from John Chiusano.

Rutgers-Camden struggled, only managing three hits throughout the game. Jason Gilman stood out on the mound for Kean, earning his win by striking out eight batters. Chris Urbanik and Cole McGourty closed the game strong, facing just six batters in total.

Game Two – Kean 3, Rutgers-Camden 2

The second game was a tight contest. Kean scored first in the fourth inning, with Adorno hustling around the bases after reaching on an error. A groundout from Tomalavage brought him home.

As the game progressed, Kean extended their lead to 2-0 in the sixth. Justin Teixeira’s single and a subsequent run from Stone made it look promising. However, Rutgers-Camden made a comeback in the seventh, tying the game with two runs after a defensive error from Kean.

In a dramatic finish, the Cougars loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth. A single from Chiusano sealed the win for Kean, marking a thrilling walk-off victory.
