Arlington, Va. (9/6/25) – The Kean University women’s volleyball team is on a roll, improving their record to 6-1 with a clean sweep at the Marymount Quad for Colorectal Cancer Awareness. This marked their first out-of-area tournament sweep since 2017.
In their opening match against Nazareth, Kean won decisively with scores of 25-6, 25-18, and 26-24. The Cougars showcased their skills with 12 service aces, nine of which came from newcomer Ashley Torok. Although Nazareth put up a fight in the third set, forcing extra points, Kean clinched the victory thanks to two crucial kills from Victoria Latino.
Torok shined, leading all players with 11 kills and adding eight digs. Latino also made a significant contribution with nine kills and five digs, while Danielle Suter tallied 23 assists.
Next up, Kean faced Shenandoah. They started slow, losing the first set 20-25. However, they turned the game around in the second set with an impressive 11-point scoring streak. Kean maintained momentum through the third and fourth sets to secure victory.
Cayley Elena Morrison stood out with 13 kills and six assisted blocks. Torok added another 13 kills and 11 digs, marking her second double-double of the tournament. Annabelle Valencia also impressed with 13 digs and four service aces.
The team’s strong performance has drawn positive reactions on social media. Fans are excited to see such teamwork and skill after years of ups and downs. As they prepare to face Manhattanville College at home, the Cougars aim to keep the winning momentum going.
