Keegan Bradley, the U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, recently revealed his six captain’s picks for the 2025 Ryder Cup team. The tournament is set for September 23-28 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
The six golfers chosen are Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Ben Griffin, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, and Cameron Young. Bradley expressed pride in his selections, highlighting the mix of veteran talent and newcomers. He believes this diverse group will strengthen the team as they aim to reclaim the Cup.
Burns is returning after making his debut in 2023. This season, he had six top-10 finishes, notably performing well in the BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship. His strength in putting could be a game-changer at Bethpage.
Cantlay brings a wealth of experience as he heads into his third Ryder Cup. With a strong record of 5-2-1, he’s shown he can excel in match play. He also had ten top-15 finishes this past season, including a second-place finish at the TOUR Championship.
Griffin’s breakthrough season earned him his first Ryder Cup spot. He won twice on the PGA TOUR this year and had ten top-10 finishes. His performance at major events like the PGA Championship and U.S. Open has been impressive.
Morikawa, a two-time Major Champion, is making his third appearance. With a solid all-time record of 4-3-1, he’s known for his skill in various formats and ranks high in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green.
Justin Thomas is the most experienced team member, with a record of 7-4-2 in Ryder Cup play. He secured his 16th PGA TOUR win earlier this year and had several top finishes, demonstrating his consistent performance.
Lastly, Young stands out as a rookie with a recent victory at the Wyndham Championship, where he won by six shots. His connection to Bethpage is noteworthy; he made history there in 2017 by becoming the first amateur to win the Met PGA N.Y. State Open.
This blend of experience and youthful energy may give the U.S. team an edge as they gear up for this prestigious event. Fans and analysts alike are buzzing about how this team will perform, especially given that the Ryder Cup often pivots on teamwork and individual talent in high-stakes situations.
