In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, actor Anthony Mackie shared some exciting news: Kendrick Lamar is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Mackie revealed that Lamar has written a new song specifically for his upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World.
At this point, we don’t know the exact release date for Lamar’s track, but it’s likely to drop around the movie’s release on February 14.
This isn’t Lamar’s first venture into the Marvel universe. He previously worked on the 2018 soundtrack for Black Panther, where he curated the album and contributed songs like “All the Stars” with SZA and “Pray for Me” with The Weeknd.
Additionally, the new song for Brave New World will be Lamar’s first solo release of 2025. Last November, he dropped his sixth studio album, GNX, which featured his famous diss track aimed at Drake, “Not Like Us.” This track won five Grammys, including Song of the Year, and was a highlight of Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
In Brave New World, Mackie takes on the role of Sam Wilson, who steps into the shoes of Captain America, previously held by Steve Rogers, portrayed by Chris Evans. The film also includes notable actors like Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Tim Blake Nelson, promising an exciting addition to the Marvel saga.
