Kendrick Lamar Shatters Jay-Z’s Record: The Most Awarded Rapper in Grammy History!

Kendrick Lamar has made hip-hop history by becoming the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, with a total of 26 awards. He eclipsed Jay-Z’s previous record of 25 and Kanye West’s 24. This achievement came after he won four awards at the latest Grammys, including best rap album for “GNX” and best rap song for “TV Off.”

He still has a chance to add more trophies to his collection as categories like song of the year and album of the year are yet to be announced.

In his acceptance speech for best rap album, Lamar reflected on his journey, saying, “It is hip-hop as usual, man. I’m not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music.” He emphasized the importance of the culture and community in hip-hop.

Going into the night, Lamar had already secured 22 wins from 57 nominations. This year, he was nominated for nine awards, including album and song of the year. Before the main event, he had already clinched three awards, highlighting his enduring relevance in the industry.

Interestingly, last year, his track “Not Like Us,” known for its critique of Drake, captured five Grammys. Throughout his career, Lamar has received the best rap album award three times: for “To Pimp a Butterfly,” “DAMN.,” and “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.”

His 2012 debut, “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” famously lost to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “The Heist,” prompting a public acknowledgment of the loss from Macklemore.

Lamar’s growing influence in music is also evident on social media, where fans express their excitement and pride in his achievements. As hip-hop continues to shape and reflect cultural moments, Lamar remains at the forefront, not just as a musician, but as a voice for many.
