NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans police announced that the cast member who displayed a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show will not face any charges. The protest occurred when the dancer held a banner combining the flags of Sudan and Palestine, along with the word “GAZA.” They showcased the banner while standing on a car during the performance and later ran across the field, where they were tackled by security.
This action surprised many. The NFL made it clear that no one in the production team was aware of the dancer’s plan to protest. Consequently, the individual has received a lifetime ban from all NFL stadiums and events.
Roc Nation, the company behind the halftime show, stated that the flag display was unexpected and not part of the show’s script.
During the game, former President Donald Trump was in attendance, though it’s uncertain if he witnessed the protest. His previous comments about intentions regarding Gaza have faced strong backlash from the Palestinian community, contributing to ongoing discussions about the area’s future.
