Kennedy Evans Appointed Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach at UMBC
Kennedy Evans, a former captain of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) women’s lacrosse team, has been named the new Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach. Head Coach Amy Slade expressed excitement about Evans joining the staff, highlighting her ability to inspire and lead. Slade noted, “Kennedy’s work ethic and commitment created a strong standard during her playing days. Her passion for lacrosse will surely benefit our team.”
Before her promotion, Evans was a Volunteer Assistant Coach in spring 2025. There, she played a significant role in operations, recruiting, and managing team communications. Her deep understanding of the game makes her a valuable asset to the coaching staff.
Evans grew up in Mount Airy, Maryland, and made her mark as a standout player at UMBC. She earned America East All-Conference honors four times and holds the record for most caused turnovers in the university’s history.
Academically, she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2024, earning a degree in Media and Communication Studies. She also received the America East Conference’s Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award, reflecting her dedication both on and off the field.
In addition to her coaching role, Evans has worked with the True Lacrosse Tournament Club, where she has helped young athletes develop their skills and understanding of the game. Her experience not only helps in improving game fundamentals but also fosters a passion for lacrosse in younger players.
