Kevin Spacey has reacted to Guy Pearce’s recent comments about their time working together on the 1997 movie, LA Confidential. Pearce claimed Spacey “targeted” him on set, which Spacey dismissed, telling Pearce to “grow up” and insisting he was not a victim.

Pearce, who is currently promoting his role in the film The Brutalist, had previously described Spacey as “a handsy guy.” He elaborated his experiences in an interview, saying he felt scared of Spacey during their collaboration. According to Pearce, he dismissed Spacey’s advances for months until he realized they were serious. He noted that he felt safer when co-star Simon Baker was around, as Spacey seemed to focus on him instead.

Spacey’s career suffered after multiple sexual assault allegations, culminating in a trial in 2023, where he was found not guilty of assaulting four men between 2001 and 2013. He also faced a dismissed lawsuit in the U.S. in 2022.

In an interview, Pearce reflected on how the #MeToo movement affected him deeply, prompting him to confront feelings he had suppressed. He admitted that he “broke down” after seeing the allegations against Spacey in the news, realizing the impact those experiences had on him.

In response to Pearce’s comments, Spacey expressed frustration in a video, accusing Pearce of neglecting to mention their reunion in Georgia a year after filming. He challenged Pearce’s narrative, suggesting that Pearce had no reason to claim victimhood if they had maintained a friendship afterward.

Ultimately, Spacey stated he has nothing to hide and remains open to talking with Pearce anytime, while suggesting that Pearce should reconsider his perspective on their past.
