Hyderabad: The BCCI has announced a 20-member India A squad for their upcoming tour of England. Abhimanyu Easwaran will captain the team, which includes several experienced players. Among them is Yashasvi Jaiswal, who shone as India’s top run-scorer during the recent Border Gavaskar Trophy. He will step in for the first unofficial Test once his IPL 2025 campaign with the Rajasthan Royals wraps up.
Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur are also part of the squad. Both players had strong domestic seasons and could potentially secure spots on the Indian team for the Test series against England. With Virat Kohli stepping away from Test cricket, Karun Nair might find a new opportunity at the No. 4 spot.
Shardul has a notable track record in England. In four matches against them, he has scored 173 runs with an average of 24.71 and taken 10 wickets for the national squad.
Joining them are players like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Akash Deep, and Sarfaraz Khan, all of whom contributed to the team during the recent series against Australia. Shubman Gill, often seen as a future Test captain for India, will join the squad for the second unofficial Test, along with his Gujarat Titans teammate, Sai Sudharsan.
