Elizabethtown, NC – The latest meeting of the Bladen County Board of Education (BOE) was packed with exciting updates, student achievements, and community involvement. Here are the highlights:
Students Lead the Pledge
Students from Tar Heel School kicked off the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, bringing a positive start to the event.
Celebrating Success
Two volleyball teams were recognized for their impressive seasons:
- The Clarkton School of Discovery Volleyball Team was celebrated as the Waccamaw A Conference Champions.
- The Bladenboro Middle School Volleyball Team was acknowledged as the BCS Middle School Volleyball Champions.
Academic Honors
This year, several schools received awards for outstanding academic performance:
- Bladen Early College: 97.1% Graduation Rate and Academic Growth Award
- Dublin Primary: Academic Growth Award
- East Arcadia: Academic Growth Award
- Elizabethtown Primary: Academic Growth Award
- Tar Heel School: Academic Growth Award
- East Bladen: Academic Growth Award
- Clarkton School of Discovery: Exceeded Academic Growth Award

Special Recognition
Jessica Oxendine-Moore, a school counselor from Bladen Early College High School, received special recognition for being selected for the SREB Crisis Recovery Support Network. She is among 40 counselors chosen across the state.
Community Involvement

Celebrating the School Board
This month, the dedication of the BCS Board was acknowledged as part of School Board Appreciation Month. Their commitment to students, staff, and families was applauded.
