Keysers Ignite Victory: Record-Breaking Performances Shine Against Firebirds

Washington, DC (3/6/25) – Junior attacker Chad Keyser had an outstanding game, scoring six goals and contributing two assists to lead the Dominican University New York men’s lacrosse team to a 14-8 victory over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds.

With this win, the Chargers moved to 1-3 for the season, while UDC remains winless at 0-3.

Keyser wasn’t the only standout; attacker Nickolas Paletta added three goals and one assist, totaling four points. Sean Cosgrove also made an impact, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Furthermore, Zamar Faith and Josh Wesneski each scored once, and Steven Dupras had a goal and an assist.

Defensively, goalkeeper Bryce Layton shined with a season-high 12 saves, playing a crucial role in the victory.

The first half ended in a 5-5 tie, with both teams scoring evenly. The Chargers took control in the third quarter, where they outscored the Firebirds 3-0, leading to an 8-5 advantage. In the fourth quarter, they added six more goals, sealing the win.

In terms of performance, Dominican excelled in clearing the ball, finishing 18 out of 20 attempts, and dominated ground balls with a total of 38. They also outshot UDC 45-30 throughout the game.

The Chargers are set to play again on Sunday against Virginia State University, with a start time of 11 a.m.
