STORRS, CT – The UConn men’s golf team is ready to kick off their spring season at the Lake Jovita Invitational on February 9-10 in Dade City, Florida.
This tournament will take place at the scenic Lake Jovita Resort Country Club. The Huskies will compete against host Ball State, BIG EAST rivals Butler and Xavier, and several others like Dayton, Richmond, and Georgia State.
This fall, UConn was led by standout players Bradley Sawka and Conor Goode. Sawka, from Ellington, CT, was impressive, finishing as the top Husky in four out of five fall events. He averaged 70.9 strokes per round and recorded eight rounds at par or better. Notably, he tied for the individual title at the UConn Invitational.
Goode, hailing from Glastonbury, CT, also performed well, with a 71.9 average and two top-10 finishes. He was UConn’s best finisher at The Goat tournament, tying for 10th place and ranked in the top 20 three times during the fall.
The rest of the team includes sophomores Matt Costello from Taunton, MA; Kai-Jun Huang from Taipei, Taiwan; and Caden Blanchette from Manchester, PA. Freshman Brennan Korn from Scottsdale, AZ, will compete as an individual.
The Lake Jovita Invitational is the first of six events this spring, leading up to the BIG EAST Championship in early May. Following this tournament, the Huskies will stay in Florida for the Watersound Invitational from February 15-17.
