Kick Off the Season: Coastal Carolina University Volleyball Launches Exciting Preseason Camp!

Coastal Carolina Volleyball Kicks Off Preseason

The Coastal Carolina volleyball team has started its preseason camp at the HTC Center. The squad is buzzing with excitement as they gear up for the upcoming season.

With 15 players on the roster, the team includes seven returning members and eight newcomers, which feature two graduate transfers and four freshmen. “It’s a great time to bring everyone back together,” said head coach Steve Loeswick. “There’s a fresh energy in the gym. We focus on building connections that help us play better together.”

Among the returning players, junior Jalyn Stout is a standout. Last season, she became the first player to set an NCAA record with 20 triple-doubles. She led the team with 402 kills and 582 assists, and she was the only one to start all 30 matches. Other key players include junior Emily Fowler, who contributed 250 kills, and setter Ava Wallis, with 213 assists.

The team is excited about new talent as well. Graduate transfers Kibi Jae’ Huggins from Southeastern Louisiana and Becca Micelle from Clemson bring valuable experience. Freshmen Elin Andersson, part of the Swedish national team, along with Julia Rose Rivera, Bella Loeswick, and Kayla Channell, are ready to make their marks.

The Chanticleers are set to kick off their season over Labor Day Weekend. They’ll host Maryland on Friday, August 29, at 6 p.m. and North Carolina on Sunday, September 3, at 1 p.m. Admission is free for all fans.

As the season progresses, keeping an eye on team dynamics will be fascinating. The blend of seasoned athletes and fresh newcomers may lead to exciting developments. Only time will tell how well they mesh during competitive play.
