Thomas More University’s wrestling team kicked off their 2025-26 season at the Pepsi Patriot Open in Corbin, Kentucky, finishing 22nd in a competitive field.

The tournament saw several standout performances.

125 lb Weight Class
Sophomore Nick Lawrensen from Dublin, Ohio, had a challenging day, ending with a 3-2 record. He won his first match convincingly with a 16-0 technical fall but faced tough competition in subsequent rounds.

133 lb Weight Class
Christopher Ferraro, another sophomore, began with a bye but ultimately finished with a 1-2 record. He pinned Blayson Jordan in his third match, showing resilience against tough opponents.

149 lb Weight Class
Redshirt freshman Hashim Wordlaw was a highlight, achieving a solid 5-2 record. His first match was impressive, winning by a 12-0 major decision. He faced setbacks later, but his determination was clear. Sophomore Linkyn Schardt manged a strong 3-2 showing, including a decisive win over Hunter Brown.

Sam Tuck from Xenia, Ohio also excelled, going 2-2. His wins highlighted his skill and persistence.

Joseph Scarborough, another first-year, fought through tough matches to finish 2-2 as well.
