King Charles Coronation Ceremony Pays Tribute to Kelowna RCMP: A Celebration of Service and Dedication

On May 28, thirty remarkable individuals received King Charles Coronation Medals at a ceremony in Kelowna Springs Golf Course. This medal honors those who have significantly impacted their communities. It was created to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, which occurred on May 6, 2023.

Throughout the second anniversary year, a total of 30,000 medals will be awarded across Canada. Among these, 1,300 are set aside for members of the RCMP, and 5,000 will recognize the contributions of the Armed Forces.

During the event, RCMP officers in their iconic red uniforms were celebrated alongside civilian members of the Southeast District RCMP E-Division. Additional ceremonies will take place across British Columbia to honor citizens and service members who have made a difference in their communities.

So far, the Government of B.C. has awarded 551 medals to exceptional residents.

This initiative aligns with a growing recognition of community service. Research from Statistics Canada shows that volunteering rates have remained stable, with around 23% of Canadians actively engaged in community service in recent years. Such contributions not only strengthen communities but also build a sense of belonging and cooperation.
