Oliwia Klimas Shines as Player of the Week

Oliwia Klimas, a freshman on the Oakland tennis team, was named the #HLTEN Singles Player of the Week after her impressive performance during a recent trip. From January 28 to February 3, she showcased her talent by winning both her matches, contributing greatly to her team’s early success.

In her match against Northwood, Klimas faced a tough first set but managed to secure a win in a tiebreaker, finishing 7-6(5). She followed this up with a strong performance in the second set, defeating Giada Ciampa 6-3 to clinch the match in straight sets.

Later, Klimas took on Eastern Michigan and continued her winning streak. She dominated Sabrina Tolstova, winning 6-2 and 6-3. Despite Klimas’s solid play, the team faced a setback due to an injury, losing the overall match 3-4.

As the season is just beginning, Klimas looks forward to more victories. The Oakland team is set to face Dayton on February 7 and Miami (OH) on February 8.
