From the team at LA Cares, the food pantry serving Los Alamos County:
Dear generous residents of Los Alamos,
Your kindness shines brighter than ever! This fall, the demand for help has surged, and you have truly stepped up. We are grateful for both new and returning supporters, including many who contribute monthly. Thanks to your donations, we’ve been able to expand our food offerings and assist more families with rent and utility payments.
Your contributions are vital for our goal: keeping families in their homes. With your support, we provide food, rent aid, and help with utility bills, ensuring families have what they need to stay warm and well-fed.
Without your generosity, many families here would face even tougher challenges.
2025 Achievements:
- Every month, we distributed food to about 100 families, totaling 1,143 households and 2,649 individuals. Our pantry now includes fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and more, worth approximately $4,000 each month.
- We assisted 77 households with $37,222 in rent support.
- Utility assistance reached 74 households, totaling $30,924.
- Thanks to 12 major food drives and numerous smaller campaigns, community involvement has been incredible.
- Our dedicated board and volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours. With no paid staff, this effort is worth around $100,000 in service. Our operating costs are minimal, covering only essential expenses like insurance and communication.
This work is only possible because of you and others in our community who care. We are honored to be a channel for your generosity, leading to real, positive changes in people’s lives.
Thank you sincerely,
The LA Cares Board of Directors
