LA Kings Appoint Ken Holland as New Vice President and General Manager: What This Means for the Team

The LA Kings have announced that **Ken Holland** is the new General Manager. This decision was shared by President **Luc Robitaille**. Holland will be in charge of all hockey operations for the team.

Robitaille expressed confidence in Holland’s abilities. “We believed Ken was the best choice and acted quickly to bring him on board,” he said. “His history of success speaks for itself. After speaking with him, we were convinced he was the right fit to help us win and compete for the Stanley Cup.”

**Dan Beckerman**, President and CEO of AEG, also welcomed Holland. “Adding such a respected leader to our hockey operations is exciting, especially at this crucial time for the organization,” he stated.

Holland comes to the Kings with a remarkable record. He is the fifth-winningest GM in NHL history, with a regular-season record of 1,145 wins, 644 losses, and 272 ties over 26 seasons with the **Detroit Red Wings** and **Edmonton Oilers**. His most recent work with Edmonton saw the team reach the playoffs five times in a row, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024.

Previously, Holland spent 34 years with the Red Wings. As GM for 22 seasons, he led the team to three Stanley Cup wins and accumulated a long list of achievements, including four Presidents’ Trophies and ten division championships. His teams consistently excelled, hitting the 100-point mark in 14 of those seasons.

Under his leadership, the Red Wings made the playoffs for 18 straight years, contributing to a historic streak of 25 consecutive playoff appearances from 1990 to 2016. This achievement ranks as the third-longest playoff streak for a GM in NHL history.

Holland’s experience doesn’t stop at the NHL. He has been involved with **Hockey Canada**, winning gold medals in the Olympics and the World Cup of Hockey. Originally a goaltender, Holland played briefly in the NHL before moving into a scouting role, eventually making his name as a GM.

His impressive track record and strong leadership are crucial as the Kings look to improve their performance and strive for championship success. With Holland at the helm, fans have renewed hope for the future of the franchise.
