La Salle Baseball: A Season to Remember
La Salle ended its home baseball season in style, sweeping St. Bonaventure during their final game at Hank DeVincent Field. The Explorers secured a thrilling 10-8 win, marking their first Atlantic 10 series sweep since 2021.
The excitement around La Salle baseball is palpable this year. After a long break, the program has returned stronger. The team started the season with a sweeping victory against Maryland Eastern Shore and continued this momentum by also sweeping Delaware State and Coppin State.
This season, La Salle recorded a solid 15-11 at home, averaging 9.7 runs per game. Notably, they have won six of their last eight games.
Key players shone brightly in the recent game. Ryan Perez, Swain, and Livingston all contributed significantly, each racking up two hits. Perez drove in three runs, while Novak added two. Swain, now just five hits away from La Salle’s single-season record (84), continues to impress with a current 10-game hitting streak.
Swain ranks among the top five in the A-10 in several categories, including batting average and on-base percentage. Out of 50 games this season, he has only gone hitless in 11.
The Explorers showcased their resilience in the latest match. After trailing 4-0, they rallied with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to narrow the gap. They exploded in the seventh, scoring five runs and flipping the game on its head.
