Lady Gaga postponed her concert in Miami just hours before it was set to start. She faced a “significant risk” of damaging her vocal cords if she performed.
The pop icon was supposed to wow fans with a two-and-a-half-hour show at the Kaseya Center, where she had already played two nights before.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story, she apologized to her fans, explaining, “During rehearsal last night, my voice was extremely strained. My doctor and vocal coach advised against tonight’s show.” She emphasized that she didn’t want to risk long-term damage to her voice, stating, “I would be more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice.”
Gaga expressed her love for her fans and the difficulty of making this decision. “I take serious care of myself to put on this demanding show. I hope you understand,” she said.
Whether she will be back for her next performance on September 6 and 7 at Madison Square Garden is yet to be seen. Her tour, launched in mid-July, will also take her to major cities like London and Paris.
Vocal issues are not new in the music industry. Other artists like Adele and Shakira have faced similar challenges, highlighting the demanding nature of live performances. According to a recent survey, nearly 40% of singers experience vocal problems at some point in their careers.
Just before this announcement, Gaga released a new single, “The Dead Dance,” along with a music video directed by Tim Burton. She’s also set to perform at the MTV VMAs with big names like Doja Cat and Sabrina Carpenter.
Fans have taken to social media to share their support and understanding. Many tweeted their anticipation for the rescheduled show, showing how much they value her health and artistry.
