LAKE COUNTY, Ohio – A flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for Lake County. This warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday.

The NWS warns that ice jams could cause flooding in several areas of Lake County, impacting rivers, creeks, and other low-lying spots. If these ice jams break, it could lead to quick and unexpected rises in water levels, resulting in flooding.
Communities likely to be affected include Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Timberlake, and Willoughby Hills. Reports of an ice jam near Chardon Road on the Chagrin River came in early Saturday morning. Emergency services responded to rising water levels on Milann Drive.
According to the Willoughby Hills police, the ice jam caused water levels to rise near homes, but thankfully, the water subsided before any rescue operations were needed. The police will keep a close watch on the situation overnight.
The Eastlake Police Department is also monitoring the Chagrin River, noting that the water level reached about 6 feet by early afternoon.
It’s important to stay informed and cautious during such weather warnings. For more information on flood safety and preparation, you can check the NWS website.
