Lakers Seek Guidance from Dodgers Executives Post-World Series Win During Billion Sale Talks

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers are teaming up in a new way. Dodgers executives Farhan Zaidi and Andrew Friedman are now advising the Lakers. This collaboration comes as Mark Walter, the Dodgers’ owner, has recently become the Lakers’ majority owner.

Zaidi is a key advisor for the Dodgers, while Friedman serves as the team’s general manager. Under Friedman’s leadership, the Dodgers have seen great success, winning two consecutive World Series titles. Walter purchased the Lakers, valued at $10 billion, from the Buss family. Despite the ownership change, Jeanie Buss will remain the team’s governor.

Interestingly, the Lakers recently let go of Jeanie’s brothers, Joey and Jesse Buss, from their front office roles. This move signals a shift in the team’s direction, even as the Buss family retains influence. Walter has created a new company, TWG Sports, under which both teams will operate.

Zaidi’s expertise will also extend to the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, which are also under Walter’s ownership. The Dodgers have set a high standard in Major League Baseball, while the Lakers look to regain their former glory after winning their last NBA championship in 2020.

This season, the Lakers are off to a promising start with an 11-4 record. The surprise trade that brought Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks has energized the team. Although they missed LeBron James for the first 14 games due to sciatica, he recently returned and contributed to a significant victory over the Utah Jazz.

The trio of LeBron, Dončić, and rising star Austin Reaves positions the Lakers as serious contenders in the Western Conference. With both teams at the forefront of their sports, their collaboration could be vital for achieving future championships.
