Meliá Chiang Mai’s Executive Chef, Suksant Chutinthratip, also known as Chef Billy, recently received the prestigious Chiang Mai Green Kitchen “Green People” Award. This honor recognizes his efforts to create a more sustainable food system.

For the fourth year in a row, Meliá Chiang Mai’s Laan Ha Kitchen and MAI Restaurant and Bar earned the “Chiang Mai Green Kitchen” certificate. This project, supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, promotes organic and sustainable dining in Chiang Mai, with 44 restaurants and hotels participating.

Chef Billy also engages youth through the “Young Chefs” program, where university students learn about organic farming and environmental stewardship. He expressed gratitude for the award, stating, “While my name is on the award, it’s a recognition of our hotel’s management and the farmers who contribute to this responsible food system.”
