LeBron James shared his thoughts during All-Star Sunday about his journey, the Lakers, and what lies ahead. He got emotional discussing his friendships and rivalries with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
“It’s always a pleasure and an honor to see those guys,” he said. “We’ve had an unbelievable journey in our careers. Steph, KD, and I will be intertwined forever. It’s been amazing to share moments on and off the court.”
Despite Curry’s absence due to a knee injury, James and Durant led their team to the All-Star championship game, where they fell short against a younger group led by Anthony Edwards.
Looking ahead, James is cautious about predicting how the Lakers will perform. “It’s hard to say what we can accomplish since this is a new group,” he noted. “When we play well, we shine, but there are times when we don’t look good at all. The key is to stay healthy and build chemistry with new players like Luke Kennard.”
James also addressed his future in the league. “When I know, you guys will know,” he said when asked about the 2026/27 season. “I’m focusing on the present.”
Interestingly, recent surveys show that about 64% of NBA fans want to see James retire as a Laker, emphasizing his impact on the team and its history. This season, he aims to help the Lakers improve their performance and navigate recent changes.
James’s motivational approach stays the same, regardless of upcoming free agency. “It’s about the journey and not just the finish line,” he concluded.
