Durham, N.C. – In his first game of the season, Peter Lemke delivered an impressive performance for Duke, leading the Blue Devils to a 6-3 victory over Louisville. Lemke pitched 5.2 innings, allowing only one run and striking out five batters. This win marks his first of the season, contributing to Duke’s current record of 20-12 and 6-7 in the ACC.
The offense shone as well. Coltin Quagliano drove in two runs with a pivotal single, while Jake Lambdin hit his seventh home run of the season. Duke exploited their scoring opportunities effectively, racking up runs when it counted.
Lemke faced intense pressure right at the start. In the first inning, Louisville loaded the bases, but he struck out two batters in dramatic fashion to escape the jam. The Blue Devils responded with a strong offensive showing. Kaden Smith got things going with a double, leading to Quagliano’s clutch hit that brought home two runs.
While Louisville managed to get on the board with a home run in the fifth inning, Duke quickly answered back. Lambdin’s powerful shot to center field reinforced Duke’s lead, taking it to 4-1.
Jack Hedrick took over pitching duties in the sixth inning, maintaining Duke’s advantage. He delivered a solid performance, closing out the game with several key strikeouts in the final innings, despite allowing a late run.
