Raipur, Mar 14 (PTI) – Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today. Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal, made this clear at the Chhattisgarh Green Summit. He emphasized the need to merge traditional knowledge with modern technology for sustainable development.
During the summit, which focused on the theme “Sustainable Synergy: Traditionally Futuristic,” Shrivastava highlighted the idea of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning the world is one family. This idea promotes harmony between humanity and nature.
He noted that rising greenhouse gas emissions are causing global temperatures to soar. This leads to melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and increasing environmental risks. Addressing these issues is crucial. Combining age-old traditions with modern tech can help us tackle the climate crisis effectively.
Chhattisgarh, known for its lush forests and rich tribal culture, exemplifies successful coexistence with nature. The summit showcased these aspects, reminding everyone of the importance of sustainable practices.
Kedar Kashyap, the state’s Forest Minister, spoke about Chhattisgarh’s unique identity stemming from its natural resources and tribal heritage. He urged the government, society, and youth to collaborate on environmental protection and sustainable growth.
Various researchers and scholars presented papers on nature conservation, biodiversity, and green technology at the summit. Notable speakers included Padma Shri awardees, who discussed topics ranging from climate change to folk traditions.
Recent data underscores the urgency of these discussions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global temperatures have risen by 1.1 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century. This rise has already led to extreme weather events, showing the immediate need for action.
In social media discussions around the summit, many users expressed hope and determination to support sustainable practices. Trends show that younger generations are particularly engaged in environmental causes. The future hinges on their active participation in preserving our planet.
As we move forward, it’s clear that combining knowledge and techniques from various cultures is essential. This blending could create innovative solutions to ensure a healthier planet for everyone.
