Katrina Schlenker Shines at the Bryan Clay Invitational
In Azusa, California, Katrina Schlenker had an impressive performance in the women’s steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational. She set a new personal best of 10:06.44, topping the CUSA leaderboard and securing the second spot in Liberty’s program history.
Schlenker’s journey has been remarkable. She began this season with a 10:15.75 best but quickly improved her time to 10:10.54 earlier at the Raleigh Relays. On Thursday, her effort earned her fourth place among competitors and solidified her position ahead of other top runners, like Kennesaw State’s Madison Seiler.
Rachel Hill also excelled in her second-ever steeplechase, achieving a personal best of 10:45.32, which ranks her sixth in Liberty’s all-time history. Meanwhile, Isabela Ross ran in the women’s 10K early in the morning, finishing with a season-best time of 35:55.27.
On the men’s side, Dale Hall and Sean Aiken showcased their talents in the steeplechase. Hall finished strong with a time of 9:00.61, just shy of his lifetime best, while Aiken improved his personal best from 9:18.00 to 9:09.03.
In the 10K, Nicholas Kiprotich, the seasoned redshirt senior and 2024 CUSA champion, clocked in at 30:14.33. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Andrew Schultz made his track debut with a respectable time of 30:41.22.
The results from Day 1 have added names to Liberty’s all-time lists:

- Steeplechase: Rachel Hill (6th all-time) – 10:45.32
The competition continues on Friday evening with more exciting races, including the 800 and 5K events. The Flames are also set to compete in the Virginia Challenge, with the women’s hammer throw kicking things off in Charlottesville at 9:30 a.m.
