Liev Schreiber recently shared his feelings about his daughter, Kai, who bravely came out as transgender. In an interview with Variety, Schreiber said, “Kai was always who Kai is.” He noted that the most significant moment for him was when she asked to change her pronouns. He didn’t feel it was a massive deal, as Kai had always expressed herself in a feminine manner.

At just 16, Kai made headlines when she debuted as a model for Valentino at Paris Fashion Week. She plans to join her dad and his wife, Taylor Neisen, at the upcoming Ali Forney Center’s A Place at the Table Gala. This center supports thousands of homeless LGBTQ+ youth, highlighting a cause that resonates deeply with Schreiber and Kai.

“This isn’t just about representing the trans community,” Schreiber emphasized. “There are many who lack resources and protection.” He acknowledged that many young people in the community face severe hardships, which adds weight to their participation in the gala.

Describing Kai as a “fighter,” Schreiber proudly noted her confidence in embracing her identity. “It’s important that she says, ‘Hey, I am trans,’” he shared. While he appreciates the journey, he’s aware of the challenges others face. “Teenagers can be a headache. It doesn’t matter if they’re trans,” he noted with a laugh, reflecting on the universal struggles of adolescence.

Schreiber expressed concern over the recent political attacks on the trans community but aims to remain hopeful. “I don’t want to overcook that fear. There’s enough anxiety in the world,” he said. His positive attitude stands in stark contrast to various narratives surrounding trans rights today.

For example, Robert De Niro publicly expressed his love for both of his children after his daughter, Aaron, transitioned to Airyn. “I love all my children,” he said, reiterating the sentiment of acceptance and support.
