Mizzou women’s golf freshman Ebba Liljberg has recently been honored as the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week. This recognition is well-deserved after her impressive performance at the Westbrook Invitational, where she finished third with a score of 12-under 204. In the final round, she shot an incredible 7-under 65, propelling her up the leaderboard.
Liljberg’s achievement marks her fourth top-five finish this season. Her efforts were crucial in helping Mizzou secure its third team title of the year, a feat not seen since the 2004-05 season. The Tigers finished at 37-under 827, one of their lowest scores in history.
This year has been exceptional for Liljberg. She concluded the fall season with an average score of 71.64, making her the best-performing freshman in Mizzou’s history. In the Sam Golden Invitational, she set both the single-round record with a score of 61 and the 54-hole record with a total of 197. Remarkably, her second-round score of 11-under is the lowest in NCAA history for that format.
This is not her first accolade; she was previously recognized as SEC Freshman of the Week this fall.
Up next, Mizzou will head to Augusta, Georgia, for the Valspar Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club on March 14-15.
