Lindenwood Men’s Basketball Takes a Tough Loss to Saint Louis
Last night, Lindenwood Men’s Basketball faced a challenging match against Saint Louis, ending with a score of 109-66. The Lions struggled primarily with turnovers, racking up 24 that cost them 34 points.
In the first half, Saint Louis shot an impressive 62.5% from the field, with a strong start that set the tone for the game. Despite trailing early, Lindenwood attempted to rally. Milos Nenadic and Jadis Jones sprang into action, scoring eight consecutive points to narrow the gap to 18-14. However, turnovers began to haunt the Lions, as they committed 10 in the last 10 minutes of the half. Saint Louis capitalized on this, finishing the half with a commanding 43-27 lead.
Jones was a standout for Lindenwood, scoring eight points and grabbing three rebounds, showing real potential. Unfortunately, the team’s shooting from beyond the arc was dismal, not making a single three-pointer in the first half.
The second half did not fare much better for Lindenwood. Saint Louis dominated, scoring 66 points. Dontrez Williams, a sophomore, had a strong season debut, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the second half. He also made a mark defensively with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Jones continued to shine, leading the team with 16 points on just nine attempts—an impressive shooting streak.
Next up, Lindenwood will head to Huntsville, Alabama, for a series of games, including a matchup against Charleston Southern.
Understanding the dynamics of this game can provide insight into trends in college basketball. Excessive turnovers are often a critical factor in determining a game’s outcome. In recent seasons, teams that average more than 15 turnovers per game tend to struggle, as noted in a NCAA report showing that ball security is a key indicator of success.
Fans will be watching to see if Lindenwood can learn from this experience as they move forward.
