Lindenwood Softball Faces Tough Loss in Game One Against Southern Indiana: Key Highlights and Future Matchup Insights

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Lindenwood softball faced a tough game against Southern Indiana, losing 3-2 on Saturday. This match dropped Lindenwood’s conference record to 14-11, as they aim for a top-four seed in the upcoming OVC Championships.

Game Highlights:

  • Tori Hatton shined with a 2-for-3 performance, hitting a home run and driving in two runs. Her solo home run in the first inning put Lindenwood up 1-0. She’s currently leading the team with seven home runs this season.

  • Ryleigh Owens, the starting pitcher, pitched four innings, allowing three runs.
  • Avery Wapp came in relief, striking out five batters in two innings without giving up a hit.

Southern Indiana’s pitcher, Josie Newman, who’s leading the OVC in strikeouts, dominated the game with ten strikeouts over seven innings, allowing just three hits.

In the third inning, Southern Indiana’s offense kicked in. After an error allowed them to tie the game, Jordan Mackey doubled, bringing in the go-ahead runs and solidifying a 3-1 lead.

Hatton managed another RBI in the fifth by scoring Theresa Snaidauf but the Lions couldn’t capitalize after stranding Lucy Pratt at second base. Wapp ended the game strong, striking out four of the last five batters, but Lindenwood fell short as Newman wrapped it up for Southern Indiana.
