Lindenwood Lions Victorious Against Tennessee State
The Lindenwood women’s volleyball team secured an impressive win against Tennessee State in Nashville, sweeping the match 3-0. With this victory, the Lions improved their record to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
In the first set, Lindenwood initially trailed 7-5 but quickly turned the tide. A strong 6-1 run helped them take control, finishing the set 25-22. Jade Roth shone during this frame, leading with five kills.
The second set featured a dominant performance from the Lions. They surged ahead, reaching a nine-point lead before closing the set at 25-16. Autumn Bax and Kylee Richey each contributed five kills.
The third set was no different. Lindenwood finished strong with a 14-4 run, winning the set 25-14. Bax excelled again, racking up seven kills in this decisive frame.
Bax ended the match with 15 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .600. Roth and Richey also made notable contributions, each with 11 kills. Amelia Thro had a standout performance, dishing out a career-high 36 assists, helping the team achieve a hitting percentage of .379.
On defense, Dana Grib led with 14 digs, while Bax recorded a double-double with 11 digs as well.
Coach Will Condon expressed his satisfaction with the team’s effort. “I am happy for the team that they were able to get this win tonight. They have been working hard these last few weeks. It was good to see them put it together,” he said. “We just have to challenge ourselves to put together another performance tomorrow.”
The Lions will look to continue their momentum as they face Tennessee State again on Saturday.
