Chyron has teamed up with Linfield University to elevate the coverage of its athletic events. They introduced Chyron LIVE, a cloud-based production platform that offers high-quality broadcasts at a lower cost.
Chyron LIVE includes tools for camera switching, audio mixing, and live graphics overlays, providing features like scores and player stats. They even created a custom control panel to simplify operations on game days.
Kelly Bird, Linfield’s Athletics Marketing and Events Coordinator, expressed excitement about this partnership. She noted that live video has become essential for fans and families who want to stay connected to Linfield’s athletic programs, regardless of where they are. Over the past decade, demand for professional livestreams has surged, and Linfield aims to lead the way at the small-college level.
Stephen Hamilton, Chyron LIVE Sales Director, highlighted the rapid turnaround of the project. Their talented design team quickly integrated unique graphics tailored for Linfield’s data sources, such as scores and team rosters.
So far, several soccer games have been successfully produced using Chyron LIVE. The university plans to expand coverage to sports like basketball, wrestling, and baseball. The system allows easy scaling for different events, making it budget-friendly.
FloSports handles the distribution of these live streams, ensuring that fans can enjoy seamless viewing on game days and across social media.
Joe Stuart, Linfield’s Broadcast Operations Coordinator, explained the need for improvement when their conference transitioned to a paywall model with FloSports. He emphasized how Chyron’s solutions benefit both experienced staff and student employees in producing quality streams. As a small-college client, Linfield has been able to set itself apart with impressive broadcasts at the NCAA Division III level.
This innovative partnership highlights the growing importance of technology in sports and how colleges are adapting to meet viewer expectations. Recent reports show that over 75% of fans now expect high-quality livestreams, making it clear that institutions like Linfield are responding to these demands head-on.
