Local Business Trash Dumped in Backyard: I-TEAM Investigates Unresolved Cleanup Issues!

TOLEDO, Ohio – The manager of the Amoco gas station on Monroe and Auburn has admitted that trash from his station ended up in a neighbor’s yard. After the I-TEAM reported on this issue, he promised to help clean it up, but two weeks later, nothing has been done.

The trash was dumped in Timothy Taylor’s backyard shortly after he moved in. “This has set me back for weeks,” Taylor said. He mentioned he hasn’t been able to move his furniture inside due to the mess and just wants to clean it up so he can use his home freely.

Several weeks ago, Taylor turned to the I-TEAM for help. On January 15, reporter Sophie Bates spoke with the gas station’s manager, who acknowledged the trash came from his business. He explained that he had hired someone to dispose of it, but didn’t know their name, claiming they must have dumped it in Taylor’s yard by mistake.

After the I-TEAM’s inquiry, the manager said he would work on a solution. However, when he contacted Taylor, he offered him $50. Taylor was surprised and confused, asking, “What’s that supposed to do? It won’t even cover the cost of getting rid of the trash.”

The I-TEAM visited the gas station again on January 29 and met the manager, who declined to speak on camera. He did say he would pay for a dumpster, which Taylor considers a good step. “Maybe I can handle it myself or get some help from friends,” he said.

The I-TEAM plans to follow up to ensure the mess is cleaned up soon.
