UNION, Ky. — Super Bowl 59 will highlight a special local flavor from Northern Kentucky. Down the Road Spice Co., inspired by a cherished family cookbook, will be featured during the famed Super Bowl commercials.
Owner Mansi Shah finds joy in sharing her Indian heritage through her spices. Her father’s recipes, especially his famous grilled chicken, inspired her to start this journey.
The business began with Mansi and her father selling organic spices like makhani masala and tandoori masala. “He’s the best chef I know,” Mansi proudly says. Each spice jar connects to her family roots, something she cherishes deeply. “We couldn’t find spices in stores that tasted like home-cooked meals,” she shared.
For Mansi, sharing her culture is important, especially with her children. She knows that as generations pass, some traditions may fade. “Food is a powerful way to keep our culture alive,” she emphasized. By creating these spice blends, she not only keeps her family’s recipes alive but also introduces thousands of others to the flavors of her homeland.
Excitingly, Google discovered Mansi’s work while she used Google Gemini for social media management. When they reached out to feature her story during the Super Bowl, she was amazed. “When Google emails you, you check if it’s a scam!” she joked.
Mansi envisions watching the commercial with her grandparents, who would have been filled with pride. “They never imagined that what they created in India would shine on an international stage,” she reflected.
